Article Synopsis :
Our featured report this week comes from TDI Academy. It is the first white paper from a series that will be known as Point of View.
It focuses on personal line insurance and looks at what must change for the transformation to digital.
It suggests there is no reason for the tech giants like Google, Amazon and Alibaba not to enter into the market.
This does not necessarily mean the end of days for the incumbent insurers, but if they are to survive, they must make some strategic choices. And very soon.
Those various choices include: platform provider; niche product provider; boutique provider; raw capacity provider; underwriting specialist; and technology provider.
Insurers can’t expect to take on all or even most of these roles. The old days of one size fits all will not persist and specialists will be expected to stick to their knitting.
Any decision will require optimisation of processes and a change of business models.
This video looks at the choices that incumbents face if they are to hit upon a winning sustainable strategy.
