InsurTech focus: Guan Aitong

Times are changing and with it the expectations of employees. Organisations in China have a rapidly growing need for human resource management and technological innovations have begun to transform the human resources service management market.

In the past two years, Guan Aitong has actively developed big data and artificial intelligence (AI) technology for the application in a comprehensive and customised service platform for businesses.

The management of benefits and accounting systems for expenses can be rather disjointed, particularly in a large company. Enterprise-wide systems are often highly efficient at certain processes, and weaker in others. Big data enables businesses to more easily manage employee benefit and expenses payments, improving employee engagement and satisfaction and stimulating organisational vitality – the disciplines here could and should be experienced by the customer base, as well.

Guan Aitong is a subsidiary of Zhongzhi, a state-owned enterprise under the central government and is supervised by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council.

It has more than 8,500 corporate customers covering more than 3.5 million employees and can work with companies with wildly differing budgetary constraints.

In 2016, Taikang Online Insurance was celebrating its first anniversary and announced a joint venture with Zhongzhi Guan Aitong launched an e-insurance platform that would offer small and medium-sized businesses greater protection.

Since then, the services on offer have been expanded and optimised. Guan Aitong now includes:

– flexible benefits that employees can self select from allocated points;

– health benefits;

– setting of health checkup schedule and appointment;

– simplified work process from fixed suite of medical check-up/appointment;

– base-level protection can be augmented as employees wish;

– employee assistance programme (EAP) offering anonymous, personalised counselling support across a number of areas which might include legal, finance (debt), mental health, etc.

– system to develop management skills and to develop a full spectrum mental health management system;

– lifestyle benefits; and

– festive benefits, providing benefits for certain festive events on behalf of employers.

In 2019, Guan Aitong hosted the 16th Human Capital Research Results Conference in Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chongqing and Chengdu.

This event is designed to provide a path for developing the human resource sector across China. It covered industry insights, diversified compensation incentives, HR work innovation and other topics and allowed for the sharing of the latest industry research.

In 2017, Guan Aitong’s scenario-based, one-stop employee service platform was recognised by the China Human Resource Development Research Association when it was awarded the Excellent Comprehensive Service Agency Award at the 4th Human Resource Development Forum in Beijing.

Zhongzhi was listed at position 231 of the top 500 Chinese enterprises in 2017 and 92 in the top 500 Chinese service companies in the same year.

For 12 years, it was voted as the leading provider in China’s human resources industry.

Other awards have included the 2017-2018 Greater China Comprehensive Human Resources Service Organization (state-owned) award in 2018.

On September 1, 2019, it was listed 83 in the 2019 China Service Industry Enterprises Top 500 in Jinan.
