Muang Thai Life (MTL) has launched a health/wellness programme that focuses on providing Thai customers with more involved healthcare support than traditional health insurance. These two key initiatives were introduced in 2017 and are called ‘My Thaidna’ and ‘SmileCare’, with ongoing collaborations with Prenetics and Health at Home respectively.
myTHAIDNA
myTHAIDNA is a collaboration between MTL and Prenetics to launch Nutrigenomics to Thai consumers. The aim is to evolve insurance from just cost support towards preventative healthcare. By giving people the insight into their own body, Nutrigenomics is a significant step in allowing consumers to make more accurate and timely healthcare decisions by providing information about our body’s response to certain type of exercise. Through the DNA analysis the test can provide over 20 diet and fitness categories. Knowing our own DNA empowers consumers to make healthier life choices. MTL has an executive partnership with Prenetics in bringing the technology to Thailand for their customers and potential customers through relevant insurance programmes.
SmileCare
SmileCare is a collaboration with Heath at Home, a Thai startup focusing on home care management. Health at Home provides a wide range of transitional care primarily for the elderly. Health at Home works with MTL through its Smile Club, a loyalty programme which offers MTL customers the added value service including home care and chronic disease management.. There are different levels of care professionals available through SmileCare from basic caregivers and ad hoc visits for the elderly, to registered nurses for bed bound patients that require 24 hours care.
Ultimately, this initiative from MTL is yes another sign that Asian insurers are waking up the fact that their future lies in preventative healthcare as opposed to pure reimbursement of costs.
