Progressive Insurance has joined several insurers in embracing Facebook messenger chatbots. On this occasion, Progressive has imbued its chatbot with AI to enable a quoting tool for auto insurance that is currently embedded into the Progressive Girl’s Facebook page. which now boasts 4.8 million followers on Facebook.
The launch makes Progressive one of the first US insurance companies to allow users to enter information and generate auto insurance quotes from within Facebook Messenger.
Some of the questions which Flo can answer include:
I would like an home insurance quote.
What is a deductible?
What is the status of my claim?
What is your full name?
The Flo bot then adapts to consumer needs and inquiries as time passes. If there is anything the chat bot cannot answer, a Progressive representative is also available to pick up the conversation via phone or private message.
End users benefits include product & service simplification, real-time quote generation and time efficiency. For Progressive, the commercial benefits include increased customer engagement, reduced operational costs, and improved turnaround times.
Dan Witalec, Progressive’s customer acquisition lead has said: “By creating the Flo Chatbot for Messenger we are able to make the process of getting an auto quote as simple as possible by ‘talking’ with them exactly where they are: on Messenger.”
Ultimately, this chatbot effort by Progresisve is another example of mass market acceptance of Chatbots and the need for property insurers to imbue both text based and speech recognition bots into their consumer facing platforms.
