Canadian insurer Desjardins has entered into a strategic partnership with smart-home device company Roost to offer the Alert Program to its policyholders. Through this program, Desjardins home insurance policyholders can get a notification enabled smart Roost device to detect leaks and freezes in their home.
How Alert program works?
- Desjardin home insurance policy holders will receive a free water leak and freeze detector with the Alert Program.
- Install the detector in your home by connecting it to the Wi-Fi and, in the event of water leaks or freezing temperatures, you’ll receive alerts on your smartphone.
- Ultimately, you’ll be able to act quickly to limit the damage and have a better chance to avoid a claim.
To make the Alert offering more user friendly, Desjardins have ported the data from the Roost device directly to its policy-servicing and renewal capabilities, as well as its telematics program, Ajusto. Ajusto rewards clients for improving their driving habits, and serves as a hub for online services including insurance policy management, store vehicle data and access exclusive offers from Desjardins. The unification of Alert and Ajusto means that policyholders who use the Roost device and are members of Ajusto have a centralised hub for all their driving and home maintenance data too.
According to Alex Veilleux, Vice-President of innovation and strategic partnerships at Desjardins General Insurance Group, “with the Alert program, we’re helping clients harness the power of technology to avoid this type of stressful situation as much as possible“.
Ultimately, this Roost device is repurposing the traditional rigid policy and claims experience towards a seamless and one stop mobile experience, while simultaneously helping customers prevent risk and redeem services available exclusively to Desjardin policy holders.
