China’s digital insurance landscape has come into focus with the success of Zhong An, Ping An Good Doctor and Alipay. Yet despite a vibrant startup scene, several patterns of change have appeared that are causing new entrants to rethink their distribution strategies in particular, and this month we consider and highlight several of these. We also delve into developments in Online Reciprocal Communities and speak with Haifei Li of Sino Conflux Life about digital insurance innovation and regulation in China. Additionally, we highlight our InsurTech of the month, which is using medical data equipment to not only help those with disease, but also improve insurers’ products.
