Agricultural Insurance in China

China’s agricultural insurance market has been characterised by state owned carriers subsidising premiums for millions of rural communities. However there is now a renewed focus on public-private partnerships, in addition to making China an attractive place for international InsurTechs to relocate. This month we assess the impact of technological and digital insurance developments on the Chinese agricultural sector. We also speak to Lex Tan, co-founder of MotionsCloud, and consider the impact that parametric insurance products will have on agricultural insurance.
