Telematics webinar recording – participant poll suggest risk pools will reduce
Our latest webinar on the theme of Telematics for the Car was very well attended, thank you to all of you who attended live. This was our second webinar in our Digital Insurance in Action series, sponsored by KPMG.  If you missed it, you can view the replay below for a limited time.
We had three excellent speakers on our global panel of Telematics experts:
- Andrew Dart, Insurance Industry Strategist from CSC who gave us an overview of UBI technology – you can also read Andrew’s recent article written for The Digital Insurer on the benefits of telematics, “Telematics: The UBI Genie is out of the Bottle“
- Paul Ripley, CEO of Driver Risk Dynamics talked about the impact of Telematics across the value chain
- Chris Carver, President & Founder of ATG Risk Solutions who gave us a view from the US on UBI. Â You can also read Chris’ recent article on UBI in the US, “Show Me The Data”, the new UBI Mantra“
The webinar concluded with a snap poll to participants who were asked the following question:
By how much do you think telematics for the car will reduce the risk pool / premiums for car insurance around the world?
As you can see from the chart below, almost half of respondents (45%) believed that the risk pool/premiums would reduce by 10-20%.  A small percentage believed that the impact could be even greater, with 9% responding that the impact could be greater than 30%.  What is clear is that our professional audience certainly think that telematics will have a diminishing impact on the risk pool.
Keep tuning into The Digital Insurer to see if these predictions come true!
